Job Title: Hospitality Tutor

Amboseli Institute of Hospitality & Technology is seeking to recruit a competent, versatile, and hands-on Hospitality Tutor capable of delivering both theoretical and practical training across hospitality programmes.
The successful candidate should be an all-rounded hospitality professional with the ability to teach Hospitality Management units as well as effectively conduct Food Production practicals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical training in assigned hospitality units.
- Teach relevant Hospitality Management units, including areas such as hospitality operations, supervision, customer service, food and beverage management, costing/control, and related management subjects.
- Conduct and supervise Food Production practical sessions, including preparation, production, presentation, hygiene, kitchen organisation, and proper use of kitchen equipment.
- Prepare course outlines, schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes and other teaching materials in line with the approved curriculum.
- Set, administer and mark CATs, practical assessments, examinations and other student assessments.
- Prepare marking schemes, maintain accurate student records and submit examination results within stipulated timelines.
- Monitor student attendance, academic progress and practical competencies.
- Identify students experiencing learning difficulties and provide appropriate academic support or referrals.
- Maintain proper discipline, safety, hygiene and professional standards during both classroom and practical sessions.
- Assess students undertaking industrial attachment and evaluate attachment reports.
- Participate in academic activities, field trips, departmental meetings and other institutional programmes.
- Regularly update teaching content and practical methods to reflect current hospitality industry trends and standards.
- Perform any other academic duties assigned by the Head of Department or Management.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Degree or Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food Production, Culinary Arts or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
- Demonstrable ability to teach both Hospitality Management/theory units and Food Production practicals.
- Relevant teaching/training qualification will be an added advantage.
- Previous teaching experience in a college, TVET institution or hospitality training environment is highly desirable.
- Relevant practical experience within the hotel, restaurant, catering or hospitality industry will be an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of competency-based and practical-oriented training methodologies.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, kitchen operations and hospitality industry standards.
