My passion for cooking landed me in Amboseli Institute of Hospitality & Technology back then in January 2015. I always wanted to be a chef ever since I was a kid and after finishing my high school studies, I saw a commercial about Amboseli Institute on a local TV station (Citizen) and I knew right there and then that Amboseli Institute was the right place to make my dream come true.
I told my Dad about it and he contacted the school to which I was enrolled to pursue a Diploma in Hospitality Management thanks to my good grade. At first I was not for it since I didn’t understand what management meant, because I only wanted something to do with cooking. The helpful and courteous receptionist talked me through it on the admission day and made me understand what I was going to do. I went for it!
We started classes a week after admission and the tutors were simply amazing. I loved the practical classes with Madam Eunice who made me love the kitchen even more. Housekeeping practicals with Madam Maryalice were something else since we took them at Bluepost Hotel Thika which was not only the best experience but also fun.
After three quarters it was now time to go out and apply what I had learnt to the Industry, so i went for my first Industrial attachment at Elementaita country lodge in Naivasha. I learnt a lot and gained a lot of experience in all the departments of the Hotel and after three months I went back to school to complete my studies.
It took another three quarters and I was placed for my second attachment at Pride Inn Hotel Westland where I raised high the Amboseli Institute flag and I was offered a job as a Receptionist where I still work to date.
I want to thank Madam Rose Kibe and the whole Amboseli fraternity for making my dreams come true and making me the best of who I am today. I would of course recommend anyone who has a passion in Hospitality, Tourism and Fashion to join Amboseli Institute of Hospitality & Technology for they will make your dreams come true as they did mine.
